There are three methods of organized crime that assist to the understanding of criminal organizations. The first-class honours degree theory is the Alien Conspiracy theory, which blames outside influences and outsiders for the rise of organized crime in American society. Second, the Rational Choice Theory is whe n a person weighs the pros and cons of living a particular lifestyle in addition they also know what the consequences of their actions are as well. Finally, the deterrence theory is when punishment is instituted as a threat to deter others from offending. Clearly deterrence is an opinion many studies states that criminals who are arrested are not necessarily deterring from criminal behavior. Hero Honda Success

Motorcycles be a hit in hoidenish areas Monday, April 15, 2002 Many continue to be surprised at the ability of India s 2-wheeler fraction to buck the present recessionary trend in the economy. What, they quest themselves, accounts for such resilience competitive pricing? Quality? Technology? Or, is it rig availability? Mr. Brijmohan Lall Munjal, chairman, Hero Group of Companies, addresses some of these issues in an interview with Soumya Kanti Mitra. What makes the 2-wheeler segment so impervious to demand fluctuations? A 2-wheeler is the most necessary consumer long-lasting good owned by lower Middle, and middle class, households. There is sixfold ownership of this product in such households. Firstly, there is an income effect that influences 2-wheeler demand. Per Capita gross domestic product growth of 3. 7 per cent per annum has been weighing households up into higher income brackets. The push effect is more in lower and middle- income groups hence the increased demand. It likewise links up with the higher contributions of the service sector to GDP the income allude of that has been greater on lower income households. A second major tenableness is the inadequate public stockpile. The percentage of people who use public transport has fallen from 85 per cent to 75.Entry-level transport options like two- and three-wheelers have in general filled this gap. They have also become a sort of extremity and thus do not show heavy fluctuations in demand. increase demand for two-wheelers from households has also led financial institutions to increase credit in a sustained way in the last three or four years. That besides has imparted stability to this item, compared to others. A good proportion of gross gross sales owes to replacement demand. Are motorcycles gaining an edge over scooters? What is your experience as a market leader? There are few fresh issues with scooters. Firstly, the applied science was dated.Secondly, most were two-stroke vehicles, less fuel-efficient compared to motorcycles. The only advantage was that one could carry along a spare tyre. But motor- cycles have been preferred in inelegant areas for better ground clearance, larger wheels and better suspension. They can easily be used on rough roads. Scooters are preferred in urban segments. New generation vehicles with four-stroke engines may soon hit the market and that lead boost the sagging scooter market. For the last two years scooters sales have been less than a million per annum. Are you, and others in the industry, supplying changes in output and investment?Considering the developments in household incomes and transport requirements we recollect that the average annual growth of 2-wheelers for the next three years should be of around 8-10 per cent. There is over-capacity, but investments may be made in individual instances. The demand for motorcycles, however, is expected to grow by 15-18 per cent. That should attract investments. Abroad, indisputa ble top-end models in BMWs, Hondas or Ducatis ranges have actually become lifestyle statements for executives. Do you assemble anything like that happening in India ? The next 2-3 years may follow out a small beginning with the introduction of high-end motorcycles. But the concept is too early for India . We do not have nice roads where the customer can ride such high-end bikes. With affordability not being widespread, who will pay off to cater to such small volumes? We may see some inroads subsequently imports get fully liberalised, but I think it is early old age for that. Are exports from the sector under siege owing to the international retardant? That could be a major factor. Also, there is over capacity in most countries in the 2- wheeler industry. Markets in Latin America and Africa are impacted, while intra- Asian trade is very competitive.

Personal Response on Sexual Identity Essay

However, this has been an awakening although I do possess such(prenominal) about elementary knowledge for my get on in cozy issues there was still much I did not know (Rathus, Nevid & Fichner-Rathus, 2005). I grew up a Christian and certain high values were set my siblings and I, so high that lesson values are predictable to assume on the subject of energise. Although I possess a European background my parents are primarily German-American. My siblings and I were with the ideas of spirituality is more important than religious put ons. However, this does not mean that we did not remove set restrictions never feeling shame or arrant(a) knowledge of intimateity. That is why when wrapping up the last chapter of the text I realized that my informal decisions were a positive influence and my family as-well-as myself. Prior to fetching this course I unknowingly forgot some countrys of my innerity involving myself and my husband. When became married I took for granted our sexual relationship and forgot to nurture it along with our relationship. However, I was reminded that pull d testify being in a good relationship changes as-well-as our needs in that relationship. Developing and growing as a rival can vitiate problems that can occur over years of neglect. Realizing, through reading the text information, taking care of our sexual needs instead of turning absent from them brought some(prenominal) my husband and I closer unitedly and cleansed our sexual relationship (Rathus, Nevid & Fichner-Rathus, 2005).Multiple sexual accounts of problems that concern couples were given in the text, which helped to improve upon and apply in my witness relationship. One of those examples was Situational Ethics and the philosophy of Joseph Fletcher. This is a theory that I find most agreeable when supporting sexual behavior. The idea of supporting people because we love them or lead see love for him or her makes sense. So by completing this course it has offered me a new perspective in critical thinking and value system in relation to sexuality. similarly the material covered has assisted in meet more aware in my sons own sexuality and how to proceed in properly supporting a powerful sexual relationship of his own (Rathus, Nevid & Fichner-Rathus, 2005). An opposite important understanding is how the environmental and historical influences have shaped my life and ideas in my sexual experiences. It is my feeling that both the environment and history brings important affects in molding our views as individuals on sexual orientation. The historical point of view influences how individual view sexuality, also it includes how he or she was reared by his or her parents. The historical and sexual viewpoints are different from one parent than another because of his or her own rearing. Therefore, certain sexual aspects were more acceptable for me when they were new for my parents to deal with. Case-in-point during my coevals being a homosexual has become much more pass judgment by society than during my parents generation, and premarital sex was decidedly prohibited. However, as a growing and mature individual I could cook my own ideas through experiences and knowledge, judging for myself what sexual preference I valued to choose. Also there is the genetic predisposition, which contributes to the outcome and direction in which my sex is furbish upd. So when adding the time, genetic predispositions, favorable environment, the way my parents reared me, and day-to-day environment influences together an individual will find the formula of a persons sexual rientation. However, notwithstanding with all of these pieces coming together to create a persons sexual orientation none of them completely order a persons sexual choice. The determination of my sex activity identicalness was preset by my parents giving me the chromosomes XY, gave me an anatomic appearance of a female. Also being reared in a hetero environment had an i nfluence in becoming a female as well. So the relation to the masculinity-femininity continuum is that I posses both traits feminine and masculine. In some situations I tend to carry myself as a caring and soft-spoken female, is typical for feminine behavior. On the other hand I express more masculine attributes like hostility and self-reliance, which is typical for masculine behavior. Both add in the development in determining and sustaining my gender identity. The biological perspective by the way was acquire from my parents and aided in the development of the characteristics in becoming a woman, gender role of nurturing and caring individual, and maternal tendencies in taking care of my child. past the psychological perspective according to my mother to which she insists that I was a linguistic rule girl with particular behaviors toward feminine toys and clothes. As a final point, the social environment offers an insight into the typical social role of an American woman, which was determine at birth by my social surroundings (Rathus, Nevid & Fichner-Rathus, 2005). Attraction and love, the cause it has on a relationship is phenomenal and with whom the relationship involves can determine its outcome.Case-in-point my husband and I have nurtured and grown as a couple from a relationship to a marriage. Of course there are umteen aspects of love and attraction in ones life and I think that the three most important components are Physical attractiveness, Similarity, and Reciprocity. When look or meeting a perspective partner the first thing, I experience physically attraction, wherefore similarity to make sure we have common interest, then reciprocity because I tend to express myself openly when a person is in agreement with me.Overall I have already experienced these characteristics in relationships for example the relationship I am currently in and any in the future. I think individually phase is significant and reflect the process to which my relations hips will develop (Rathus, Nevid & Fichner-Rathus, 2005). Furthermore, sexual dysfunctions are another course subject that I found interesting. Although, it is a delicate matter to most individuals I believe that dysfunctions should be turn to immediately by a doctor.People tend to postpone addressing issues concerning sexual dysfunctions when treated by a doctor it could become more achievable or cured. The reason for the lack of professional help in this area that people experience a feeling of shame, or uneducated in on the issue of sexual dysfunctions, there is however one genuinely interesting sexual disorder I want to address the Orgasmic disorder. A man generally experiences an inability to delay an orgasm, which means he cannot bid early ejaculation as for a women she experiences anorgasmia, is the lack of an orgasm even when stimulated. The Orgasmic disorder is a disorder in which being informed as much as possible is necessary to both partners and should my partner or I ever experience this kind of sexual disorder then we can acknowledge the disorder and seek treatment. Should this problem persist then my partner and I shale seek additional medical help in its prevention. However, the textbook offered knowledge in identifying and solving this problem by list instructions to which a person may stimulate him or her previous to sexual intercourse or masturbation.Of course as men began to age he tends to experience complications from orgasmic disorders and this can lead to problems in a relationship. Moreover, if or when these dysfunctions occur many solutions are available such as lecture to a medical doctor and seeking counseling to deal with the stimulated stress of this disorder. Dealing with these problems in advance can improve a sexual relationship and offer a chance of a invariable marriage (Rathus, Nevid & Fichner-Rathus, 2005). When taking this course I first thought, it was unnecessary because I was confident and knowledgeable about my o wn sexuality.

Fast Food Advertising And Childhood Obesity Essay

A rise in obesity has been nonice in the United States in the last two decades. corpulency is one problem that gives birth to numerous fatal diseases, including but non limited to cardiovascular disease, diabetes, and depression. The Centers for Disease Control and Prevention (CDC) conducted a stack and found that, more than one-third of U.S. adults (35.7%) and approximately 17% (or 12.5 million) of children and adolescents aged 2-19 historic period be obese (Ogden, Carroll). One of the main reasons behind obesity is the Ameri behinds love for unshakable aliment. Fast regimen contains only a small proportion of essential nutrients, and is loaded with insanitary and non-essential nutrients which do energy but contribute to obesity and resulting diseases. An equally increasing trend has been observed in the openings of new profligate victuals locations. The feature sheet issued by case Restaurant Association shows that 970,000 new debauched fodder locations were und efendable in year 2012 and the restaurant-industry share of each feed dollar fatigued stands at 48% (2012 forecast). Those parents who know ab come in the inauspicious effects of ready food consumption try their best to remain their children away from it. solely no matter how hard they try to shield their children, well-nigh veto forces like advertising provides them a complete exposure to such unwellnessy food. A kid whitethorn never have eaten a McDonalds hamburger, but he/she definitely knows what it looking fors like, thanks to the power of commercials. A contemplate of almost 100,000 food ads on TV showed that 89% of ads that teenagers read are promoting products high in fat, sugar, and/or sodium (Taylor, Daniel). The advertisers are very ingenious and they never tell the complete story of products they advertise. They make the food look so tempting that it becomes irresistible for everyone especially kids. They best know the techniques to tip over out the targeted consumers. Most of the TV advertisements show super-sized meals at cheaper prices but they never show that the excess consumption results in excess calories input. A show by Tirtha Dhar and Kathy Baylis indicates that the parents whose children are constantly begging for fast food, after macrocosm exposed to TV ads end up purchasing fast food more(prenominal) frequently than parents whose children are not exposed to advertising (Dhar, Baylis 3). In order to build a prosperousand healthy nation, Government should bring action to chuck out fast food advertising completely to the children. acquirement of this stopping point requires unity and mutual efforts by whole nation. The issue of fast food advertising to children is not new and an initiative was taken by the Federal Trade Commission after the joint workshop of FTC and discussion section of Health and Human Services (HHS) on Marketing, Self-Regulation and Childhood Obesity held in 2005. FTC was the first ever organization in the US which recommended that the Congress ban fast food advertising to children under age of 12. According to a overcompensate issued by them to Congress, 44 reporting companies spent approximately $1,618,600,000 to resurrect food and beverages to children and adolescents in the U.S. in 2006. Approximately $870 million was spent on food marketing directed to children under 12 and a smaller more than $1 one thousand thousand on marketing to adolescents (Kovacic, Harbour, Leibowitz and Rosch). Congress has not worked on any of the recommendations presented in the report yet. It seems like they care more about the profits earned by the giant fast food industry than the health and wellness of general public.Banning fast food advertisements wont solve the obesity problem at erst but it is surely one of the best steps in the in good order direction a step that more law makers should not be afraid to take. The similar advertising bans already exist in any(prenominal) jurisdicti ons such as in Quebec (Canada) and few S toleratedinavian countries (Dhar, Baylis 7). Sweden, Norway, and Finland have out(p) commercial sponsorship of childrens programs. Sweden also does not permit any telecasting advertising targeting children under the age of twelve (Role of Media). Quebecs 32 geezerhood ban on advertising to children had led to $88 million annual reduction in expenditures on fast food and 13.4 billion to 18.4 billion fewer fast food calories being consumed per year (Dhar, Baylis 2-10). Residents of Quebec have a very sedentary life, yet their obesity rate is comparatively lesser than the US. These figures indicate that the sanction on fast food advertisement can prove effective in lowering or curbing fast food consumption in the United States as well. A large proportion of the US population carrys a very combat-ready life. An active life combined with the proper and healthy diet may lead to significant reduction in the obesity rates. Media and entertainm ent giant Walt Disney Cos has already banned junk food advertisements during its TV, radio and separate online programs intended for children under the age of 12 (Heavey).Lawmakers and other opponents of this campaign may not agree to the effects of advertising on children and may come along argue that this ban will never be successful in achieving the desired results. A research paper commissioned by the knowledge domain Health Organization (WHO) states that, A survey conducted in the United States showed that 86 percent of children who smoked prefer Marlboro, Camel and Newport which are the three most firmly advertised brands (Hammond). A study in the ledger of the American medical checkup Association found that 91 percent of six year oldish children surveyed identified the Joe Camel cartoon character as being associated with cigarettes, about the equal percentage as recognized Mickey Mouse (Fischer, Schwartz and Richards 3145-8). Lawmakers should not obturate how the ban on Joe Camel proved to be successful in stark naked take rates in the United States. High school smoking rates dipped significantly from 34.8 percent in 1995 to 21.9 percent in 2003 (Wilson). Now the webpage of Camel cigarettes cannot be even accessed by kids, as it requires input of some verifiable information. The ban should be placed on the TV bring which children watch the most. A similar ban should be placed on the free video streaming websites which display ads more than the desired videos.Alternatively, a specific time can be furbish upd by the legislators during which no advertising related to fast food shall be displayed on TV. The report issued by FTC includes a variety of recommendations for media and entertainment companies. The best recommendation among them is that, More media and entertainment companies should limit the licensing of their characters to healthier foods and beverages that are marketed to children, so that cross-promotions with popular childrens mov ies and television characters will favor the more, rather than the less, nutritious foods and drinks (Kovacic, Harbour, Leibowitz and Rosch 11). FTC further recommended media and entertainment companies to use their powers positively. Their report states that Media and entertainment companies should test the effectiveness of any health and nutrition messages and public education campaigns aimed at the problem of childhood obesity (Kovacic, Harbour, Leibowitz and Rosch 11). Parents will have to play an active part in this regard. They carry to be more watchful about their kids media consumption. They should keep an eye on the channels their children watch or the books and magazines they read to see what types of commercials are displayed. By doing this, they can filter out any media theme they dont want their children to use. A child spends a significant amount of time in a day in school. Schools can play an important role in making the children aware of adverse effects which fast food consumption can have on their health. They should make the fresh fruits and vegetables available to the children.Fast food companies spend a substantial amount on renting out the spaces used for billboards advertisements. metropolis Government should take some action against these companies and restrict renting out such spaces to them. In order to make sure that these restrictions dont affect the advertisement of healthy food, the government should set nutrition-based hackneyeds which will define what type of products can be advertised. Any product-line that doesnt meet that standard will never be allowed to be advertised The opponents of this ban may argue that it completely depends on parents whether they let their children buy fast food or not advertising doesnt compel them. They ignore the fact that if a parent always says no to his or her children whenever he or she demands for fast food, it would affect them adversely. The kids will compare their position to other kids i n the neighborhood or school, and will feel depressed by clear-sighted the fact that they are the only ones who are not allowed to eat fast food. These psychological factors in turn will affect their education and career. A mother of two children from California named Parham launched a class-action law suit against McDonalds appealing that the toys given out with the Happy Meals unfairly trap kids into alimentation unhealthy foods (Jodi, Sara). She further speaks about the success of advertising in this regard, other(a) busy, working moms and dads know, we have to say no to our young children so some(prenominal) times, and McDonalds makes that so much harder to do (Jodi, Sara). advert of junk food is the root cause of these problems, which if banned to children, will let the parents achieve the goal of keeping their children healthy and successful.Works CitedOgden, Cynthia., and Carroll, Margaret. One of the bands central claims to fame was that it employed in succession Eric Clapton, Jeff Beck, and Jimmy pageboy. Today, these medicationians ar revered as the holy trinity of white, English, rock-blues guitarists (Cole and Trubo 13-14). scalawag, a tallly regarded school term guitarist who play on numerous British hits, selected the musicians that would form his band. The session has been described as magic by all present. The rest, as they say, is history (Yorke 21-3). conduct zeppelin, along with Blue Cheer, forbidding Sabbath, and Grand Funk, was a progenitor of the musical comedy style known as heavy coat rock. As the get word suggests, the music genre features loudly amplified music that empha surfaces the bottom register. Third, was the supergroup phenomenon, and the importance of extended exclusively playing that discarded the temporal limits of the pop song (Straw 97). As Weinstein observes, umpteen of these attri thoes could also be discerned within pre-metal acts such as Hendrix or slam (16-17). Later, the genres characteristics would sediment into distinctive order shows, script album pass through designs, and auditory sense dress and life styles. The success of this style has been taken as reflecting the emergence of a new rock audience, composed in Davis view, of, Boys and schoolgirlish men between fifteen and twenty-four, an audience who like their rock to be loud, Anglo-Saxon, violent, 4/4, martial. The girls werent really at this party. It wasnt a terpsichore (Davis 63). Audition tapes in hand, take Zeppelins manager, Peter Grant, negotiated a five-album, ? 200,000 package with Atlantic Records in late 1969 (Lewis 45). In addition, the band was granted complete artistic control over its music and album cover design. This was an unprecedented take aim for a band that had yet to release a single album, and said as much for the negotiating skills of the principals as it did for the labels expectations of the groups potential for commercial succ ess. In a move bound to raise more than a few eyebrows, the band removed the a from Lead Zeppelin, reportedly so that American fans would not say it. The magnitude of the deal would lead to charges that the band was based on spark plug preferably than solid musicianship (Weinstein). Led Zeppelins early musical output fits squ atomic number 18ly within the above stylistic categories. As Rockwell argues, its music was, Essentially a prolongation of the nineteen-sixties British blues-rock tradition (Rockwell n. p. ). Rather than oblation a reinterpretation of the path laid down by its predecessors, the bands music mutated the genre, creating a new offshoot. Two direct examples may be found on the bands first album, Led Zeppelin Willie Dixons I Cant Quit You and You Shook Me. No mere covers, each song served as a point of personnel casualty for amplified, distorted, and shrieking musical efforts.Equally characteristic was the way Led Zeppelin offered up portentously expanded varia nts on American and British folk music. Songs such as Babe, Im Gonna Leave You from the first album, or Gallows Pole, from the terzetto, start with a vocal accompanied by an amplified acoustical guitar, mental synthesis to complex tapestries of electrified unspoilt and crashing drums (Yorke 72-4). These effects were realized by the way that Page employ his guitar and electronic wizardry to explore the coloristic possibilities of distortion. Plant, on the other hand, employ his voice like an instrument. This upset the vocal technique handed-downly used by blues singers, which had required them to project emotion. Writing of this practice, Christgau argues, Its influence on popular interpret has been so widespread that, at least among males, singing and emoting have expire virtually identical it is a matter of bulge rather than hitting the notes (n. p. ). Thus, singers like Bob Dylan or Neil Young who, by their own admission possessed little vocal talent, could be excused, or even revered, because of their ability to communicate not only musical content, but feelings.Plants vocals, in contrast, were devoid of feeling in the traditional sense. The announceive possibilities were found in the sound of his voice rather than in the lyrics meaning (Lewis 67). No longer chained to lyrics, Plant used his voice as a sound rather than to express emotion, which very much meant that a songs lyrical content was often obscure or indecipherable. Led Zeppelins music did not emote in the traditional sense. Even the bands acoustic work sounds traditionally coded as sincere and warm was some clippings interpreted as lacking feeling. The often meant that critics would interpret the bands music as cold, or charge that it was meet undifferentiated noise. With his characteristic gustatory perception for hyperbole, Lester Bangs referred to Led Zeppelins music as, The tonal equivalent of a 1933 Nuremburg rally (Mighty 62). An analysis of the bands lyrical themes reveals a variety of occurics and sources of inspiration. In Led Zeppelins early music, lyrical content, vocal style, and instrumental attack, often exemplify an aggressive, swaggering, male gender. All are found within the bands Whole Lotta Love, one of its early hits.Recorded in 1969, the song has a dirty sounding, three-note riff, that has become one of rocks most recognizable. Plant sung the lyrics, borrowed from Willie Dixons You consume Love, with his best histrionic ardor (Davis). Accompanied by the vocalist scream in orgasmic frenzy, the songs middle section has churning, swirling, electronic sound effects that move from left to right speakers. On the same album, however, one finds Ramble On, a song that embodies and presages Robert Plants fascination with Tolkien-inspired resource and Celtic themes.Undoubtedly, its lyrics owe a debt to traditional, blues-based tales of ramblin men, who have no time for counterpane roots. Ultimately, however, the song breaks from that mold b y restating the narrative within the vernacular of an unrelenting, mythological quest for the queen of all my dreams (Lewis). Such songs are characteristic of Led Zeppelins output, and provide insight into what differentiated the band from its precursors. For Straw, one of the characteristics of their music was a, Consistent non-invocation of rock history or mythology in all self-conscious or genealogical sense (103). enchantment he views this as a generic wine quality, it is particularly relevant to the analysis of Led Zeppelins music. Put differently, when Plant copped blues lyrics for a song it was rarely to evoke a specific musical mood or period. Instead, they became part of a larger musical dynamic. True, a song such as Bring it on Home, may have begun with the harmonica and voice mannerisms of an old, black, blues singer, but its inclusion was based primarily on architectural considerations rather than of a desire to pay homage to American urban music of the twenties and thirties. This mis rationality is part of the reason that someone like Lester Bangs would keep that Led Zeppelins, Albums refine the crude public tools of all weary white blues bands into something awesome in its very insensitive grossness, like a Cecil B. DeMille epic (Review of Led Zeppelin n. p. ). Rather than understanding the mechanics of the effect, or perhaps understanding but still not won over, critics found it easier to interpret the means Page used to get through it.As it employed inflated or excessive means to win dynamic contrasts, Led Zeppelins music was often impeach of being cartoon-like, the perfect intellectual nourishment for its teen and uninformed audience (Cole and Trubo 49-50). According to Rockwell, As it evolved from 1968 onward, Led Zeppelin became the first and greatest mint candy audience band built up through FM radio-play and bide contrives rather than AM hit (Led Zeppelin and the Alchemy 24).Christgau attentiveness this view, by observing tha t the band never woodshedded like Cream, that it had a sens audience from the start (n. p. ). Both facts reflected the changing structure of the music industry in the late-sixties and early-seventies. Traditionally, rock bands started at the ground floor. They toured in small venues and reliable local radio airplay, which they would then parlay into a local or regional base of support. Despite its commercial success, Led Zeppelin positioned itself as a band that lay outside the mainstream.Though it had a kitty audience, the bands fans felt as if they were members of a secret society. When their early albums were criticized by reviews in the Rolling Stone and other national music publications, they recoiled from contact with the music press. Unlike other bands, its members were rarely in the pages of music magazines (Lewis). Consistent with contractual stipulations, Led Zeppelin exercised absolute control over their artistic direction. They became known as a band that wouldnt take shit from anyone. Tales of their contrariness have taken on mythic proportions. At a time when other popular bands were required to cut singles or engage in more subtle or manifest forms of merchandising, they were one of the few that had the power to abstain from these sordid affairs (Yorke 114-5). Despite many lucrative offers, the band refused to perform on television. These stories lent the band a distinctive mystique. Rockwell comments, Led Zeppelin is a band that is intimately a ritual among teen-agers and blissfully alien to the over-21-year-olds (24). This combination of mass challenge and cult-like allegiance is an unusual and interesting phenomenon. In structure if not in meaning, the group was the musical equivalent of the Volkswagen Beetle. Even today, its status as a peoples band remains largely uncontested (Cole and Trubo 102). The fervour surrounding the release of Led Zeppelins fourth part album provides insight into how the bands unique status was constructed. I n 1971 it released its fourth album. Its jacket contained no words that would tell apart it as a Led Zeppelin album to outsiders. Inside, one found four runes at the top of the liner sleeve (Yorke 133).When asked to explain the rationale for this unorthodox packaging, Page replied, We immovable that on the fourth album we would deliberately downplay the group name and there wouldnt be any information on the outer(prenominal) jacket. Names, titles, and things like that do not mean a thing. What matters is our music. We said we just wanted to rely purely on music( quoted in Davis 141-142). at heart the industry, confusion ensued over what to call the album. Critics labeled it the fourth album, or referred to it by catalog number, Atlantic SD 7208, while fans often referred to it as Zoso, a rough transliteration of the first rune. One does not have to challenge the sincerity of Mr. Pages remarks to see how a belief that only music mattered, and that Names, titles and things had no relevance, might also function as an effective marketing tool. It played the game both ways on the one hand, it affirmed the bands distance from merchandising itself, while, on the other, it created an aura that drew suburban teens to record stores in droves (Cole and Trubo 73). Led Zeppelin toured North America any year from 1968 through 1973, returning in 1975 and 1977. The band had scheduled concert dates for 1980, although John Bonhams untimely death halted their plans. The tours since 1973 were conducted with military-like precision. The band even went as far as leasing their own private jets to ferry them to and from shows (Yorke 142). The size of Led Zeppelins attendance and gate receipts were to become almost as legendary as its performances. In July 1973 the band broke the Beatles record for single concert paid attendance. The Beatles had drawn 55,000, with a $301,000 gross, to Shea Stadium in 1965. Yet that night 56,800 people paid $309,000 to see Led Zeppelin in Tampa, F lorida (Robins 116).In 1977 the band played before 76,229 fans in Pontiac, Michigan, bill as the largest paid crowd for a single attraction in the history of rock. The bands gross for the evening was $792,361, a record at that time (Swan Song Press Release). While its fans would proudly identify with the bands outsider status, they also took a great deal of satisfaction in the bands commercial success. This contradiction suggests that the rock ideology had mutated since the late-60, and that its oppositional stance had softened some, reflecting institutional changes that the genre and its audience had undergone during that time (Lewis).Plant and Page, around whom most of the show revolved, presented starkly different characters. On stage Plant was the front-man. He introduced the songs and chatted with the audience between them. The singers appeal was primarily to girls and young women. On stage he was, by turns, coquettish and phallic (Cole and Trubo 66-7). At one moment, he was a golden-curled, teeny-bop dream, arouse fantasies of castles and knights, at another, he was a groaning, pushing, back- doorstep man, ready to break down the door to get what he wanted. Robins characterized his stage presence as, Spirituality mixed with sexuality (Robins 117).Unlike the singer, Pages appeal was primarily to boys and young men. While the driving force behind the band, he almost never radius to the audience. His is the silence of young boys, vulnerable and aloof. A waifish, Edwardian figure, Pages guitar playing was accompanied by dramatic and grandiloquent gestures. On stage he often resembled a wizard marshaling the dark electronic forces at his disposal, an impression heightened by his reported dalliance with Satanism. He appeals to those who feel they have something important to say, but doubt their ability to say them (Davis).Led Zeppelins music always exceeded generic heavy metal boundaries. In the mid-seventies, however, these boundaries were eroding from deve lopments within and without rock music. The stylistic diversity that marked its third and fourth albums was pushed even farther in later albums such as Houses of the Holy and Physical Graffiti. In each, the blues played a less prominent role, and the bands lyrical concerns began to shift, in a generic sense, overlapping the terrain occupied by progressive groups such as Yes, queen Crimson, and Emerson, Lake, and Palmer. In the mid- to late-seventies the distinctions between the audiences for heavy metal and progressive rock began to disrupt (Weinstein 29). By the mid 70s, Led Zeppelins audience had become more varied. While still holding much of its traditional audience base, new groups such as Boston, Aerosmith, or Kansas, competed with the band for the allegiance of young listeners. By contrast, its music became part of the mainstream. In 1976, for example, the daughter of the president, Susan Ford, said on the Dick Cavett Show that Led Zeppelin was her favorite group. Not able to let its historical commitment to youth be outshone, the Democrats responded in kind. speak at the National Association of Record Manufacturers convention, Jimmy Carter reminisced about earreach to Led Zeppelin records during all-night sessions when he was governor of Georgia (Davis 296-7). While anecdotal, both accounts suggest that Led Zeppelin had become something of an institution. As a cast of youth, one needed only to refer to it to become cool. As is leafy vegetable in politics, however, the symbolism rang hollow.Although the undisputed ruler of Americas high school parking a good deal in the early seventies, by the put over of the eighties Led Zeppelin was no longer able to meld different youth factions under its sonic umbrella. Instead, these same parking lots were the sites of tribal warfare, with one area given over to brisk Wave, another to Disco or dance music, and still another to Metal (Straw 101-3). Led Zeppelin was, arguably, the most commercially successful rock band of the seventies, all the while maintaining an aura that made its young audience feel as if it were part of a secret society. From their standpoint, fandom was an entry into a community the size of which has not been seen since. It was also, arguably, the most significant and influential rock band of the seventies. emergent from the decomposition of 60s psychedelia, the band played a leading role in the development of the decades musical, performance, and business practices. A Modest Proposal for holding Fathers Equally Essay

Traditionally, the concept of abortion, child-rearing, home focal point, prostitution and level off pornography be all attributed to wo hands women as subject. In the love of abortion, women are more likely judged as guilty or not trusty parent for either aborting or not aborting her child (for certain reasons). In Child-rearing, the aims are the very ones who are blamed if it happened that her children grew rebellious and defiant. Home management is in all likelihood tagged as womens function. In the issues of prostitution and pornography, women are the central subjects for judgment. They are more seen as immoral as compared to how men are treated. In short, there are even so unresolved problems regarding gender fibers and gender biased structure of society. This essay addresses the issue of making fathers or men as well accountable for the occurrence of such(prenominal) societal conflicts. Traditional Gender Roles By tracing our history, we could arrive at an evaluation that women and the female parents were discriminated in the society. Having a patriarchal structure of society wherein men or the fathers are labeled as superior over women or the mothers. The traditional structure wrong the house was that the father was regarded as the enquiry of the house whom has the highest authority. He has the final say in all things concerning the family. His well-established role as father was providing the needs of the family. Consequently, given such structure inside the home, the community and even the whole society became attached to that firearmicular whim that only men or the fathers have the right to be the theme or the bearer of the highest authority otherwise conflict would arise.Because of this traditional concept women and mothers were viewed as the destroyers of order and peace in the society if they would insist themselves as equal as or higher than men and the fathers. Recommendation harmonise to Katha Pollit, the fathers should as well be accountable for all the conflicts that arise inside the house, in the community, and in the society. (Barnet & Bedau, 2004) They (the fathers) are not really attributed with perfect characteristics. They have also the predisposition of doing wrong things just like the mothers. When the marriage relationship failed, the mother should not the only one whom should be blamed. The father has also part in that failed relationship. When a child grew up as disobedient and rebellious, the mother is not the only one who is responsible for disciplining her child. The father, being also a parent of his child, has the business of disciplining and molding his childs attitude. In the berth of abortion, mothers are not the only persons who make the problem. The father has also a responsibility towards the pregnancy of the mother. In this contemporary period, women are asserting and bit for their equal rights with men. They are consistent with their campaign of establishing laws that would make them equal with men. In cases of parenting and marriage relationship, it is really unintelligible to say that only women have this responsibility of taking care and disciplining the children and working out their marriage life. The father has also such responsibilities toward his children and his wife.As a conclusion, all must be learn with the fact that everyone has a responsibility towards each other and towards the society. Men and the fathers are not exempted from this kind of responsibility. Women or the mothers cannot manage the home without the assistance and back up of her partner, the father or her husband. Both of them are responsible for molding and directional their children. And truly, it takes two to tango.Reference Barnet, S. , & Bedau, H. (2004). The Purpose of Architecture

The purpose of computer architecture is to create helpful shoess that people desire to be in. Its not enough to conduct the space useful if people hate existence in it. And its not enough to b some other people involve to be in it if they cant use it for its intended purpose. But being attractive without being useful is probably better than being useful without being attractive. If people like a space, theyll find a way to make it work. If people dont like a space, theyll stay away, in time if it seems to meet all their practical needs.Architecture creates more than one kind of space. inside spaces are the ones we usually think about. But architecture creates exterior spaces as well. A new building on a street makes it a different kind of street. Is it a street where people want to be, or is it a street they hurry through? The architect is as much(prenominal) responsible for the street his building sits on as he is for the space inside the building. If a new construction cr eates a long, blank argue that people instinctively avoid, the architect has effectively destroyed the street.Businesses on the other side of it will wither, and the street will exist only as a passage from one more desirable place to another. ardor is less important than graduated table in creating spaces people like. Architecture on a human scale is inherently more friendly than architecture on a titanic scale. Monumental architecture needs little subdivisions to make itself relatable the arches in a Roman basilica, or the stilts in a Mies van der Rohe office building.Great slabs of concrete or stone put us off instead of welcoming us remembering the human scale is the thing that makes architecture work. These are all obvious ideas, but the eagerness of an all-encompassing theory of architecture can make an architect inhume them. An architect needs to look at his plans and ask, Will people want to be here? Perhaps he should point to different floating policy on the bluepri nt at random Will people want to behere, orhere, orhere? If he can evermore answer yes to that question, hes done his job well.

Remembering Personal Issues if you are alive(predicate)(predicate) of any concerns or upcoming life events, it whitethorn be price enquiring about these, as it reads that you are interested, and is likely to benefit any relationship .You may be worries that an individual may non want to controvert any further, they can let you know if this is the case but it is likely still better to ask, than wait aloof or standoffish. 5. Listening communication is a two way process. Therefore it is vital that you take cadence to actively listen to others, in order that they feel their opinions are studyed. diligent auditory sense means that you hear another opinion but also demonstrate interest by serveing trancely (both verbally and with body language gestures). Listening is fundamental if others are to feel commensurate to confide in you or ask for help/advice.6. Clarity on Key Points when well-favored information or instructions you must be clear, so that others can understand what you check said, or asked of them. Do not assume you have been clear, especially with children who may say they understand even if they dont. endlessly ask them to repeat back to you what they have destiny to do, whilst reassuring them that you are not testing them but checking that your instructions were clear. 7. Sense of Humour specially in dates of stress or pressure, try to see the queer side of a situation. Not only will it benefit you ( temporarily reducing stress) but also releases tension from any situation. Although these principles can be applied to building any relationship, thither will of course be differences or reconcileations in the way we communicate dependant on the condition of an interaction. It is inconceivable to think that the way we informally converse or act in the company of friends would be acceptable in a employment meeting. More formal language and behaviour would be expected in the latter, if one was not to be considered rude. The same would be true of any interaction with a evoke in a professional capacity. As mentioned previously it is not just what is said or written but also gestures, body language and dress, which should be appropriate to a situation. Advice should be sought when dealing with individuals from different cultures, with particular attention to acceptable behaviour, gestures pertinent to that culture, to avoid misunderstanding . What may seem perfectly acceptable to you, could be interpret as extremely impolite to another culture. In summary you should consider who you are interacting with as well as the (likely) expectation of language and behaviour. In doing so you are less liable to avoid causing offence, fault or bad feeling which all have a prejudicious effect on any relationship that may have been promoteed. Skills whitethorn of the skills involved in effective communication do not need to be learnt as we demonstrate them subconsciously. It is however valuable to understand what these skills are and evaluate our own strengths, weaknesses and battlegrounds for development.Give Opportunities to Speak as with all effective communication but particularly in the case of children, it is important to allow and give opportunities for every pupil to speak and contribute. Every child is different, just about perhaps confident and particularly vocal whilst others may seem reticent. An inclusive environ ment should be created where every child has the opportunity to express themselves. gullt be tempted to speak whenever there is a pause in conversation, as nearly children need time to process their thoughts and garner assumption to deal out them.Actively Listen show you are listening by giving a child your undivided attention and maintaining eye contact. By doing this you are inadvertently saying your voice matters to me, which will only do to boost self esteem, potency and aid positive relationship building. demonstrable Body Language and Facial Expressions body language and facial flavour are another way to demonstrate you are listening. Nodding, smiling, talking/listening at a childs level, all indicate you are interested in what they have to say, and can also pass you seem more approachable.Folded arms, neutral facial expressions and talking down to a child can make you appear intimidating. React and Comment Respond to the information a child gives you, this may invo lve repeating what they have said, to explain your understanding. Adding your own responses will also add to the conversation and help trouble it. Be Interested, Respond and Question Demonstrate that you are interested in what a child has to say. One way to achieve this is by responding and the appropriate points and asking questions, which may further the conversation. It is also important that the child is attached opportunity to ask questions and respond in the same way, so that they learn that communication is a two way process and you are equally interested in what they have to say. As adults it is easy to dominate dialogue, without intentionally meaning to do so, by not giving a child time to contribute, question or give their ideas, opinions or feelings. Children should be back up to question information and add their own ideas, therefore the school environment should promote this. AdaptationThe skills discussed are however just a get-go line point and as with the guid ing principles, adaptations will need to be applied dependant on the childs age and context. Age junior children will tend to be less independent so will rely more heavily on reassurance and positive reinforcement in your communications with them. Additionally junior children are often much more tactile and will seek physical contact as a source of reassurance and to build confidence. Younger children are generally more open and will seek adult help in times of distress, anguish but also to share achievements.Consequently communication is much easier, as they will share information openly with you. As children mature, they become more self conscious and aware of peer pressure, often reluctant to share information and are therefore likely to require much more coaxing and encouragement to discuss issues and verbalise their feelings. Context Within the school environment you are likely to function in various capacities at heart your job role, learning support mentor, pastoral role, supervisory role (playground duty), teacher/peer support and confidante. Your port of communication will need to be adapted according to the situation. In a more formal setting, much(prenominal) as the classroom it will be necessary to provide clear, compendious communication regarding tasks whilst simultaneously foreseeing and dealing with any disruptions, to ensure pupils stay focused on task. Conversely when acting in a pastoral role, active listening will play a greater part. Your language maybe less formal to engage the child and make them feel genial to share their troubles and feelings. The child may seek mortalal information from you in this instance have you ever felt this way, has this happened to you? Whilst it ay be tempting to issue these questions openly and honestly, to give the child confidence to do the same, you should remember that a professional relationship must be maintained at all times. Show your understanding without giving too much personal informati on, it is important for the child to view you in a professional capacity not as a friend. converse Differences Each child is an individual and therefore will have their own communication vogue and differences. If a child has SEN, these will be documented and it will be much easier to make adaptations according to their provision map or statement. However this will not always be the case and you will need to recognise and respond to any communication differences, a child may have. For example some children may lack self confidence, and ample opportunity must be provided for them to contribute. Dont be tempted to talk for them or guess what they are trying to get across. This will only serve to compound their anxieties. You may feel it beneficial to work 11 building to minute groups and further as a whole class to build their confidence slowly.Ask for help from your speech and language coordinator if you work with a child with a speech disorder, they will be placed to advise on stra tegies for working with a particular type of communication issue. As adults, our corroborate instincts often lead us to step to help a child when they experience communication issues, which is not actually beneficial to the child. Allow them time to speak, support them (use of visual aids, sign language, providing an environment where they feel comfortable and confident), show sensitiveness but do not try and be their voice.Communication needs The skills of communication harbour equally to adults, young people and children and whilst there are many similarities and significant overlap in the way we communicate with these groups (active listening, body language, facial expressions, showing interest etc), there are also important distinctions that must be made. Children With children communication must be succinct, clear and concise, too much information can lead to confusion. They should be able to feedback to you in their own words, their understanding of your expectations from t hem.An inability to so demonstrates that you need to see your choice of vocabulary appropriate to the child. Avoid using expressions or sayings that children may find vexing and interpret literally, particularly if incline is not their first language. One such example would be referring to something as the bees knees, there is nothing in this expression which suggests something is good, so this only serves to confuse a child. Within the school environment, as a member of support staff you are functioning in a professional capacity, your choice of language should reflect this.A certain degree of formality must be maintained to ensure the carer- child relationship boundaries are clear. This especially applies to physical contact, which should not be promoted or offered. In a setting with younger children who seek this type of reassurance, this may be more difficult and you should not shun a child who tries to hold your hand or extort you. They may interpret this as a rebuke and ass ume they have upset you. Conversely you should not be initiating this form of contact. Adults Communication difficulties are not exclusive to children.Adults may also experience issues, and it is important you apply the same sensitivity and adaptations, as you would with a child. Again some difficulties may be more obvious than others, hearing impairment, non-English speaking or English as an additional language (EAL), if you are meeting face to face, allowing you to adapt more easily. You should however consider the various forms of communication your school utilises and consider potential communication difficulties, adults may have that you are not aware of. Adult literacy is an issue , particularly in disadvantaged areas.Sending letter home in this instance would not be an effective regularity of communication. This could be something you should be sensitive and consider particularly if you feel an parent is taciturn. Simply speaking to the parent at the end of school outlining the sate of the letter and politely asking for a reply may foster a relationship that allows the adult to work with you for the benefit of the child. Autism is another area that affects communication for both adults and children. Be heedful that you should adapt your communication style but what is suitable for a child maybe patronising and rank out the rong impression to an adult. Equally do not assume any every person with autism will have the same, if any, communication difficulties and that you should consider the person as an individual rather than a minority group. Managing Conflict typically most conflict arises due to a breakdown or lack of communication. Identifying and addressing conflict early is the key to resolution. However successful resolution requires sensitivity careful management of the situation. Open dialogue between affected individuals is the starting point of conflict resolution.Everyone should be able to discuss what happened (their interpretations of eve nts) openly and freely ( show RESPECT). They should also be encouraged to describe their actions (take RESPONSIBILTY). Often misinterpretation of another intentions or verbal misconception are the cause of conflict. Equally others may be unaware of the impact of their own actions or communication style on others, particularly if there are cultural differences. Be mindful of external pressures or issues to which you or others may not be privy. remote pressures, for example family breakdown, will have a significant effect on individuals, their way of expressing this may be uncharacteristic in terms of behaviour. In this instance it would be beneficial to talk to the child or adult individually and offer support, prior to involving others. Finally develop a plan moving to move forward (REPAIR the situation), which is satisfactory to all concerned. This approach forms the root word of restorative justice, practised in many schools and has been shown to proactively to build relationshi ps, promote flying field and prevent harm and conflict occurring.

One essential application of the amendment of the IDEA corresponds to the acquisition and readiness of highly qualified teachers.Since the practice of inclusion of special students in spite of appearance the schoolroom requires the necessary skills and competence among educators, the application of standards coincide not only within the precept of IDEA but also on other educational mandates such as the No Child Left asshole form _or_ system of government (NCLB). By ensuring that Georgian teachers are fit to meet the needs of students via educate and development of necessary skills, they can help transcend towards furthering means to pee-pee inclusion and determine the best programs available for students regardless of their physical and cognitive capacities (Hyatt, 2007).Another crucial component shaping Georgia in adhesiveness to the needs of facilitating inclusion and the needs of special students revolves around the procedural safeguards evince within the state. Here, the board of education alongside educational institutions are the ones who curb that careful application of protective mandates is given towards special students oddly in the realm of disciplining, mediation, a nd the process of intervention during specific cases.Such directions can thus induce better means for reinforcing accountability and responsibility among educators and administrators in congruence to the mandates provided by IDEA in reference to protective mechanism for the needs of special students and the promotion of inclusion (Hyatt, 2007). The third aspect that needs to be considered revolves around the nature of individualized education programs. low the specific tenets advocated by the Georgian Board of Education, it has mandated and amended new conditions prior to the implementation of an IEP program.Under these conditions, it must correspond to particular standards and approved by the supervisory delegation handling specific subjects and disciplines. In here, modifications within the IDEA were introduced to carry out a wider span and target new means of consolidating a wider eye socket in trying to reach out towards the needs of special students particularly those with disabilities (Georgia Department of Education, 2009).With regards to early intervention programs, specific attention is made by the Georgia Department of Education wherein they try to incorporate different schemes in reaching out towards special students and making them take part in government sponsored programs. In here, specific consideration is made the derivation of rubrics and EIP guidelines so as to guide both parents and educators about the appropriate model that is effective for each participant (Georgia Department of Education, 2009).Alongside this process is the condition towards focusing options to help students meet the demands of their grade level and adhere to the standards provided by IDEA. The determination part circumvents with the process alignment with the No Child Left behind Policy. Under this mandate, the Georgia Department of Education has corresponded and integrated its school policies and its programs tally to its mandates. Here, amendments and rules were reinforced to guide educators and administrators the appropriate perspectives in helping students with disabilities become right away available and competent (Idea Partnership. org, 2007). Similarly, these conditions also center in areas such as special education services, school improvement, and addressing proficiency standards. All these conditions then coerce better means to justify and outline congruence with both the differing perspectives and mandates provided by IDEA and NCLB.In the end, it can be argued that the Georgia Department of Education has indeed consolidated efforts towards bridging and redefining the mandates of the IDEA. Here, they had sought to help induce inclusion within the classroom by consolidating the directives provided by the IDEA and applies them according to the norms prevalent within educational institutions. By reinforcing these policies, Georgia remains responsive and accountable to the increase needs of special students and opens up opportunities for growth and development.
